Romantic Evening Out

Walking hand in hand on a beautiful, dark night with full moon and the light smell of the end of winter in the air is the type of romantic memory that brings a smile to your face. Finding something that is romantic and still expresses your unique individuality can be, at times, a balancing act. I’ve created this look with a long red/black corded corset, sexy red fishnets, leather miniskirt, knee-high patent leather boots and a long velvet coat.

*Hint: I find putting my boots on before the corset to be essential in stress free dressing.

Rock Concert

Some of my favorite dates have merged two of my passions. Live bands and being out with the man I love. This is the perfect time to don something sexy and fun. Paired this beautiful black corset with chain detail, black skinny jeans, black leather boots and, of course, a classic leather motorcycle jacket. This look is both versatile and alluring.

*Hint: Make sure that your jeans are not overly or uncomfortably tight around the waistband, because it can cut into your hip. This makes the corset not fit as well if it was unobstructed. Excessive restriction on your natural waist can cause issues as well. So ensure you are starting with clothing that fits properly, before lacing up.

Pretty in Pink

Some dates just implore us to bring our inner girlie girl out to play. Corsets can portray a variety of preferences and your own individual personality. Make a statement with a retro pink gingham corset, black, rolled skinny jeans, some sweet, pink pumps and a whimsical hat.

*Hint: When wearing new high heels, make sure to scuff the bottoms to avoid slipping on smooth surfaces. I typically walk out to some asphalt and “do the twist” much to the delight of my neighbors, who no doubt question if I’ve gone round the bend and admire my extensive shoe collection..

A Night Out Dancing

The Red Floral Corset Dress is perfect for a night out with your sweetheart dancing. Its light, flirty and romantic with its full circle skirt and feminine lines. Here I paired it with a red petticoat, some sexy black heels and side-swept hair for a wearable “Rockabilly” look.

*Hint: make sure when you are performing any activity that you avoid slippage. After you put your corset on, look in a mirror and raise your arms above your head and confirm that there are no visible choice bits. If you do find this to be an issue (happens to me) invest in some wardrobe tape or fashion tape and use a small piece on the front of your corset just above your highest point in the bust line. This should help to keep the ladies under wraps.

The incredible mystique that corsets create can seem unobtainable to the average person. I am often approached by women who ask me, “What would I wear that with?” My answer is always the same “everything.” Corsets are for everyone, and anyone can find the beauty and create the magic illusion of the timeless hourglass figure.

With love in the air and Valentine’s Day fast approaching I found a few beautiful corsets, and over the next few weeks I will pair them and dress them up and down, from a dinner date to lunch with the ladies. I will also include tips and tricks to help you find the right look and level of comfort from beginner to expert.

The holidays are a time for food, family and friends. It can be a fantastic whirlwind of fun and also stressful, hectic and tiring. One of the items typically on the docket is what to wear to that holiday party. The big gathering of family that you see mostly online or the cocktail party “the ex” and everyone you know is going to attend. So, no pressure.

Time to hurry, shop, clean, cook and work. The thought of figuring out what fantastic look you will require in order to feel confident at your holiday party can be overwhelming. When wearing a corset, you get that kick that adds a sexy look you need to let go and enjoy your evening. Hello fellow corset lover's!

So I'm happy to report I've completed three months of corset training! I feel like it's been a big accomplishment. It's very rewarding to look in the mirror and noticing how small your waist has become. It hasn't been easy. There were days that I wanted to use any and every excuse to not put on that corset.

At the three month mark, and again it's amazing to see the progress I've made. The first couple of months I had questioned myself, asking what anyone would have. Is this really going to work? Will I see progress? Will my hard work pay off? And I can say without a doubt, yes! It did.

I started out my training at a size 30 corset. And after only three months, I'm ready to move down a size. I've lost almost two inches in my waist. I couldn't happier

So, what's the next step? That would be taking the next size down in corset. Increasing the time worn and continue to shrink my waist.

This season you can embrace your love of corsets while still celebrating the hottest trends of the season. Here are five stunning looks that graced the AW15 catwalks.

Monochrome

The love of monochrome has been around for a few seasons and is set to stay. The combination of striking black and white elements has a timeless elegance to it, and suits every complexion. Monochrome is beautifully versatile, being as appropriate for office wear as it is for social occasions. Monochrome is the perfect basis for a capsule wardrobe, and investing in monochrome items means you will get plenty of wear out of them. Mini-skirts

Opt for a corset in an interesting fabric to create a rich palette of texture. There was a deliciously Gothic vibe to a lot of the AW15 collections, meaning the corset is one of the hottest wardrobe essentials this season. Givenchy, Alexander McQueen and Simone Rocha were amongst those who exhibited exquisitely dark Victorian-inspired creations.

So why not pick out a corset that ticks all of the boxes this season? Something that is bang on trend, but a far throw from the typical High Street wear that everyone else will be seen in.

If you want to look wonderful in your new corset, then how about prepping your waist in advance with a faja?

No idea what a faja is? Then prepare to be enlightened! Faja is actually Spanish for ‘wrap’ and in the past, it is a garment that has been used by cosmetic surgery patients to reduce swelling after surgery and to ensure a nice neat waist. However, you don’t need to go down the surgical re-construction route as faja’s are now used by women worldwide to help them obtain a wonderfully curvy body with a clinched waist.

Wear your faja

So how does the modern day miss use a faja? The great news is that they are now produced under the guise of a ‘waist trainer’ or a gym/sports oriented waist clincher. Made famous by many celebrities, they can help reduce your weight and re-train your waist to look good. Remember the old fashioned corsets that your mums and grandmothers wore? Well they knew a thing or too as wearing this type of garment day after day really does change your shape.

You can wear your waist trainer anywhere; choosing to show it off or cover it up. The more active you are whilst wearing it, the more of a difference it will make.

So how does it work?

Like an old-fashioned binder, once it is fitted around your waist, an immediate compressed effect is felt. You may feel hot and sticky for a while until you get used to it, but just remind yourself that it is working on your fat cells and coaxing toxins and impurities to sweat it out as you perspire.

To give maximum impact, most waist trainers are made from natural latex rubber overlaid with cotton to give a nice look. There is also cotton lining which helps keep you comfy as it prevents the latex sticking to your skin. Fully boned and flexible, you fasten it with hooks and an eye, gradually moving inwards to the smaller size as your waist begins to take shape.

Flaunt your faja!

Waist trainers come in all shapes and sizes and you can choose from something very plain to wear at the gym or something with a more detailed design if you want to flaunt your faja.

As always, use your waist trainer carefully and sensibly. It may feel uncomfortable to begin, but don’t rush the process. Get used to the feel of it before you start the tightening process. Slow is good. You may even find that because your tummy area is restricted, you cut down on how much you eat. The other thing about wearing a faja is that you will immediately feel and look very feminine and sexy. Obtaining a great shaped waist has never looked so good or been so much fun!
